Carbon Sound’s DJ sessions started back in late December of 2023. Every two weeks, we invite a DJ from the Twin Cities and beyond to share their unique style in our studio. A new mix airs every other Wednesday at 8 PM Central. We’re happy to announce that mixes will now be made available for playback online and in the Carbon Sound app for 24/7 listening. I’ve been DJing for about five years now. My journey with this craft has been a long, winding road. I did a lot of things wrong, but I did a lot of things right, too. I didn’t have a formal mentor. Well, I kind of did but… Long story.

Anywho, I want to use Carbon Sound as a platform to highlight past and present generations of DJs, the tastemakers in the community that get us moving, introduce new tracks, and lead events. Ultimately, I want this to be something that inspires others to pick up the craft and be introduced to the wider community here. There are a lot of cool people to learn from. I wish I knew that sooner.

I recorded a few mixes to get us rolling, each focused on a different genre that I enjoy playing during my live sets and SoundCloud mixes.

Recording and producing these has become one of my favorite things to do. There’s so much talent based in the Twin Cities and coming through here on a monthly basis. It’s an honor to be able to highlight that.

There’s a rich history of electronic music and hip-hop in the Twin Cities, and it’s still being made today.
